Kapu Kai Bowling Alley Tiki Bar Vintage Advertising Art Reproduction T-Shirt

Kapu Kai is translated as either Forbidden Sea or "a ceremonial bath in the sea meant to cleanse oneself after evil or defilement."Whatever it means, The Kapu Kai was an entertainment hub in its day until it closed in 1994. A coffee shop/bar/restaurant which was attached to a bowling alley (and for a period a skating rink). The bar was called The Tahitian Fire Room and it featured live entertainment almost nightly. The building itself featured lots of carving and very detailed theming. This was a tiki-palace in its day and it is fondly remembered by the many people who patronized the spot.This shirt is a reproduction of one of the matchbooks, slightly re-designed to look less cramped and put emphasis on the logo.
